Randy C. Spannagel

Randy C. Spannagel of Hingham, October 1, 2007. Beloved husband of 41 years to Virginia Spannagel. Loving father of Carole Anne & husband Scott Whittier of Milford, NH, Michelle Lynne & husband John Cruckshank of Carver, Wendy Lee Spannagel and Julie Anne Spannagel, both of Hingham. Brother of Larry Spannagel of CO and the late Lila Magee of TX. Devoted “Grampa” of Bryan Ross Whittier, Sarah Louise Whittier, and Heather Marie Whittier. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. Randy worked for 36 years as the Head of Maintenance for Weymouth Schools, retiring 3 months ago. From 1962 to 1966, he proudly served in the U.S. Airforce. In his younger days, Randy played all sports and later became a fan of the Patriots and Red Sox. A history buff, Randy had vast knowledge of the Civil War, military ships, and planes. Watching westerns and war movies (especially starring John Wayne), playing cards and board games were favorite pastimes. Randy’s family will remember him for his devotion to them. As they recall, “He was honest to a fault and the kindest man you could know.” Donations in Randy’s memory may be made to the Randy C. Spannagel Memorial Fund, c/o Rockland Trust, Queen Anne Plaza, Norwell, MA 02061 which will be used to purchase a memorial bench or tree.
