Mitchell, Randall E. “Randy” in Florida formerly of Hingham & Hull, May 28, 2007. The beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Zona) Mitchell and former husband of Georgine “Jean” (Gould) Mitchell of Hull. Son of the late William B.G.Mitchell & Lillian (MgGrath) Mitchell. Father of Thomas Mitchell, James Mitchell and his wife Ellen and Robert Mitchell all of Hull and the late Michelle LaRosa.Cherished brother of William G. Mitchell of Hull and Judith Toy of SC. Stepfather of Carl and Terry Olson both of Hingham. Loving Grandfather of Jamie, Kerin and Courtney. Randy is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham, Monday at 10 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 11AM. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8PM. Burial in Hull Village Cemetery, Hull. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Randall may be made to a charity of your choice. U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Randall E. Mitchell was born in Cohasset and raised in Hull. He was the son of the late William B.G.Mitchell and Lillian (McGrath). As a young boy Randy , as he was called by his family, really enjoyed sports, especially basketball, football and baseball.He also enjoyed golf and fishing and dancing. He graduated from Hingham High School and attend Norwich University. Randy served in the United States Amy during the Korean War. He worked as a produce manager and supervisor for the Stop & Shop company in various locations for more than 38 years, retiring back in 1994. After his retirement from Stop & Shop, he began working at the Rockland Golf Course, where he also was an active member. He loved the game of golf!! When Randy began wintering in Bradenton Florida, he took a job at the Alconquestadore Golf Club where, according to his sons , played there, not really worked hard there! While living in Hull Randy was a call Fireman for the Town of Hull for many years. As he raised his family in Hull, Randy was very active as a referee in basketball & soccer as well as an umpire in baseball and softball. He also coached the little leage teams. When he was not acting as a referee or umpire, he was playing the roll of coach, which he did extremely well! Randy was the very first non italian President of the Sons of Italy in Hingham. He was also a member of the Weymouth Elks. An avid sports fan, he love to follow the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He enjoyed following both high school and college basketball. Even with all his medical conditions, you would always find a big smile on his face. He always had such a positive outlook on life. He was described by his family as a kind gentleman who was known by many due to his outgoing personality. His brother Bill explained how much of an inspiration he was to many people by his endurance all of his health issues.
