McLeod, Ralph A. of Weymouth, former long term resident of Quincy, April 27, 2007. Member of the Boston Braves, United States W.W.II Army veteran and retired Quincy Fire fighter of 32 years. Husband of the late Barbara (White) McLeod. Loving father of Beverly L. St. Pierre of Weymouth and Robert A. McLeod of Eugene, OR. Brother of the late Emerson F. McLeod. Devoted grandfather of Naomi Tackett of Hermiston, OR, Jason McLeod of Eugene, OR, Jennifer Cullen of Chapel Hill, NC, and Joanna Cullen of Weymouth. Great grandfather of Keizer McLeod and Hunter Campbell. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Wednesday at 11 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Mr. McLeod may be made to Salvation Army, 6 Baxter St., Quincy, MA 02169. Ralph Alton McLeod was born on Oct. 19, 1916 in North Quincy, MA . Unbeknownst to young Ralph his nextdoor neighbor was Fred Doe, a former pitcher , who would later play an important roll in Ralph’s life. Ralph was a member of the Boston Braves Historical Society, Major League Baseball Alumni Association and the Morrisette Post. He was also a member of the Beechwood Life Center Volleyball Club. Ralph fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 75th Division, U.S.Army. A firefighter with the Quincy Fire Dept. for 32 years, Ralph retired in 1980. Ralph also played semi pro baseball in the mid 1930’s.
