Priscilla Janet (Lindsey) Blanchette 93, of Hingham, MA died Thursday, December 17, 2020. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at South Shore Hospital after a short illness. Priscilla and her late husband Raymond celebrated 50 years of marriage together before his death in 2003.
Born and raised in New Bedford, Priscilla was pre-deceased by her parents, Raymond and Laura (Brainerd) Lindsay and sister Daune Evans (2004). Often described as strong and fiercely independent, Priscilla was a graduate of St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing with a celebrated career of 25 years. She was a devoted mother of four and bookkeeper for Ray’s Arco Service Station, a New Bedford neighborhood cornerstone business, that she and her husband successfully ran for 30 years.
Priscilla and Ray were active members of Holy Name parish and The Lions Club until retirement, when they began to travel the country in their Winnebago. They enjoyed visiting many National Parks before settling in the Florida Keys and Naples, enjoying sunshine, good friends and easy living.
For the last 16 years, Linden Ponds Senior Community in Hingham has been home to Priscilla. There, she had lovely friends, served on the Welcome Committee, Nurses Club, took Lifelong Learning courses and performed in several musical productions. It is also where she received wonderful care by dedicated support staff, doctors and nurses.
Priscilla leaves a legacy of four children: Barbara Cashavelly and husband Gary of Duxbury MA, Jacqueline Farese and late husband Duke of Bellingham MA, Gary Blanchette and wife Marilyn of Oviedo FL and Alan Blanchette and wife Sue of Cotuit MA. Also, she is survived by seven grandchildren: Bethany Connolly, Peter Farese, Laura Ritch, Thomas Cashavelly, Katie Curran, Tyler Blanchette, Rebecca Blanchette, as well as nine great-grandchildren.
