Priscilla A. Johnsen

Priscilla A. (Barnes) Johnsen, a 42 year resident of Weymouth, died October 2, 2021 at the age of 78.

A consummate educator, Priscilla enjoyed her 30 years as a French and Spanish teacher at Derby Academy in Hingham. Her passion for history led her to become a successful tour guide in Boston, Salem, and Cape Cod with Tours of New England. She was also active with the Weymouth Historical Society. Old South Union Church was central to Priscilla’s life. She was a deacon and a member of various commitees, Bible studies, the “M & M” Club and helped with organizing the church auction and holiday fairs. Priscilla was a proud graduate of Mary Washington College in Virginia and a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). She was also a gourmet cook. The daughter of a Coast Guard father, Priscilla lived in many places during her childhood including Oahu, Hawaii in her junior high and early high school years.

She was the wife of the late Dana R. Johnsen. Loving mother of Jana Johnsen of Boylston and Carl Johnsen of Weymouth. Proud “Grammy” of Quentin, Lily, Noah, Lucas, Cole, Avery, Joanna, Katie, and Alex. Sister of the late Karen Smith and Barbie Krug. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in Old South Union Church, South Weymouth. Cremation will follow.
