Phyllis M. Rogers, of Weymouth and formerly of Quincy, passed peacefully at the Pat Roche Hospice Home on Friday, December 27, 2024. She was 78.
Beloved daughter of the late James “Buddy” and Catherine “Doris” (Danahy) Rogers. Phyllis is survived by her devoted sister Barbara Rogers whose steadfast care and support were a constant throughout her life.
A lifelong resident of Quincy, Phyllis attended catholic schools and graduated from Fontbonne Academy. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Boston State College. As a young woman Phyllis joined the financial department of the Massachusetts State Department of Education where she remained until she retired.
Phyllis was an avid reader, loved to go shopping for clothes and enjoyed watching the New England Patriots. She liked to walk the Quincy Shore beach and swim at the local Y. Phyllis was known for her incredible memory and spelling abilities. She loved to travel and visited many places including Ireland, Canada, Australia, and went on several sailing trips visiting many Caribbean Islands.
Phyllis will be dearly missed by her lifelong friends. She will be remembered for her kindness, dry sense of humor, and the strength and resilience with which she faced life’s challenges.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 11 AM at Divine Mercy Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy. Cremation will follow.
Phyllis will be interred privately in New Calvary Cemetery, Boston at a later date.
