Phyllis C. Mooney

Mooney, Phyllis C. (Martucelli) of Hingham, died unexpectedly on July 21, 2008 at the South Shore Hospital with her family at her side. She was 72 years old. Beloved wife of Charles P. Mooney, the couple were childhood sweethearts who grew up together in Neponset and shared 51 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Charles P. of Milton, Christopher J. of Needham, and Neil A. of Hingham. Loving grandmother to Patrick, Nora and Liam. She is also survived by dear sisters Norma Staples and Susan Norton. Reunited in eternity with dear brother James Martucelli sister Nancy Lou Martucelli, and parents Mae and Louis Martucelli. She was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Phyllis was born in Boston and graduated from Dorchester High School, Class of 1953. A talented business administrator, she worked at law firms and the Hingham Institution for Savings. She later served as CFO for a Hingham software company, and as an executive administrator at Dunkin’ Donuts headquarters, Randolph. After retiring she served as a part-time volunteer for the Town of Hingham. Among her many interests, Phyllis enjoyed French Impressionist and American colonial-era art. She loved gardening and was an avid reader, with a special interest in historical fiction and non-fiction. She was an amateur painter and a talented decorator. She adored the beach, and was a member of the Cohasset Sandy Beach Association for many years. Reposing at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham. Visiting hours Thursday, July 24, 4-6 pm and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 25, at 10 AM at the Church of the Resurrection, 1057 Main Street, Hingham where she was a devoted communicant. Burial immediately following at Hingham Center Cemetery, Hingham.
