Philomena “Phyllis” Sullivan of Quincy, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. She was 90.
She was born in Dublin, Ireland to the late Martin Hennessy and Bridget (Fitzgerald). After graduating high school, Phyllis earned a degree in nursing at Whipps Cross Nursing College in England. She later moved to the United States where she began her career as a Registered Nurse, working at many hospitals and eventually privately.
Phyllis was a devout Catholic and was very involved with church. She did volunteer work and loved to travel. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was outgoing, friendly, kind and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, John E. Sullivan, Jr., and her siblings: Fr. Michael Hennessy, OMI, Mary Quealey, Ann Murray, Bart Hennessy and Patricia Mulcahy.
Devoted mother to Ann M. Sullivan of Quincy, Clare Sullivan-Block of Milton, Mary J. Sullivan of Jamaica Plain, Martin Sullivan of Quincy and John E. Sullivan III and his wife Beth Castrodale of Jamaica Plain. Loving sister to Joseph Hennessy of England, and Noel C. Hennessy and his wife Kathleen of Saugus. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas, Matthew and Bridget Block. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Pam Hennessy and Donna Sullivan, brother-in-law, Kenneth Cooney and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
