Philip Walter Maslanka

Philip Walter Maslanka, of Abington, passed away suddenly on February 4, 2021 at the age of 43.

Throughout his life Phil had a natural ability to fill hearts with joy and laughter, leaving indelible marks on so many of those hearts. Phil will be remembered as having his own heart of gold, a mischievous glint in his caring eyes, being full of energy and full of life.

Phil’s passion came from living life to the fullest with the people he loved. His enthusiasm for adventure and ability to accomplish what others thought impossible was admirable. It was a rare occurrence if his presence did not bring laughter, or if someone did not walk away with a “Phil” story after meeting him. He will forever be the champion of the “Johnny Hustle Award”. 

If you knew Phil, you knew how much he enjoyed music, always wanting to share new songs or bands that he discovered. He was an enthusiastic reader of books, comic books and graphic novels and was a poet laureate in his own right. He loved cinema, especially Game of Thrones, The Office, and everything Star Wars related.  Phil loved seeking thrills, snowboarding and riding roller coasters. He was an avid soccer player and fan and was so proud to watch his daughter carry on in his footsteps, dominating the pitch. Above all else, his ideal day was lounging by the pool with his family, having fun.

Phil’s passing leaves a deep void in many hearts. He meant so much to so many people: the loves of his life, wife Traci A. (Frazier) Maslanka and daughter Zoie “Bella” Maslanka of Abington; father and mother Philip and Marie Maslanka of Abington; mother Virginia Frazier of Truro; brother and sister Brian Maslanka and Christina Ebling of Hanson; brother and sister William and Denise Frazier of NH, Mark and Melissa Frazier of Hanover; Jason and Kelly Burke of Middleboro; being Uncle Phil! to Cameron Maslanka, Jackson, Pressley, Jason, Danny, and Levi; aunts and uncles Gina and Jim Charbonneau of Weymouth, Isabelle and Charlie Faria of NH, Michael Maslanka of Natick; many loving cousins, other family, so many friends.

Phil did things the way he wanted to, always with a smile on his face. Phil would not want you to grieve, but to celebrate the life that he lived and the lasting impressions that he made.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday, February 20th from 2-5 PM  in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

The private funeral service will be available by live stream on the funeral home website on Saturday, February 20th at 5 PM.

Normally, the funeral is an opportunity for the community to gather in support of one another. If you are unable to gather together with Phil’s family at this time, friends may still offer their support by clicking the link above and sharing a special memory or message.
