Philip Rugnetta

Rugnetta, Philip, age 79, of Dorchester, died March 5, 2015.  

Philip cherished the time he was able to spend with his children and their families.  In his earlier years Phil was a golfer and boxer.  He continued his love of sports as an avid New England Patriots fan enjoying one more Super Bowl victory. He was a member of the National Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame.  Philip and his family founded Joseph’s Pastry Shoppe in Dorchester, where he was a baker from 1957 to 1988.  He later owned and operated “This Takes the Cake” bakery in Quincy with his wife Pam from 1995 to 2009.  Phil’s smile was infectious and he was friendly towards everyone he met.  Friend of Bill W.  

Beloved husband of Pamela Rugnetta (Flynn) of Dorchester and former husband of Ann Rugnetta.  Loving father of Michael Rugnetta and his wife Michele of Abington, Anthony Rugnetta and his wife Jenna of PA, and Joanna Darling (Rugnetta) and her husband Barry of Canton.  Loving stepfather of Colleen Hooke of Brockton, John O’Donnell of Holbrook and Linda Harris of RI.  Cherished son of the late Joseph and Jennie Rugnetta.  Loving brother of Fred Rugnetta and his wife Deborah of FL and William and the late Marie Calapa of Braintree. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church, Dorchester at 10 AM.  Burial in Braintree Cemetery.  

Donations in memory of Philip may be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc., 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
