Philip J. Palmer – loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend – passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Weymouth, MA on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
Phil was born on May 15, 1945 to Philip and Carmella Palmisano in Boston, MA. Raised in Medford, MA, he graduated from Matignon High School in 1963 and then from Boston College in 1967.
Phil met his wife, Anne McNeil, in high school and they married on April 28, 1968. They welcomed daughter, Jill, the following April and daughter, Wendy, the next July.
Through the years, Phil enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, golf and spending time with his family. He loved playing tennis at the Hingham Tennis Club.
Phil is survived by his wife, Anne; their children Jill Kelly and husband Brian, Wendy Heidenreich and husband Vince; four grandchildren, Katelyn and Daniel Kelly, Tori and Zach Heidenreich; his brother, Joe Palmisano and wife Sheila and many nieces and nephews.
Phil lost a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer but was able to celebrate with us almost to the end. He saw both granddaughters, Tori and Katelyn, go off to their proms He watched Zach play a high school tennis match. He watched Daniel play basketball. He celebrated his 77th birthday at the Hingham Tennis Club and he visited with family and longtime friends at Katelyn’s high school graduation party.
In his memory, donations can be made to the National Pancreas Foundation.
Friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate Phil’s life in the way he would want to be remembered – as a loving and caring family man who enjoyed life and all of the people who shared it with him.
