Kenney, Philip J. of Quincy, Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003. Husband of the late Barbara T. (Wenzler) Kenney. Loving father of Mary Sullivan of Hingham, Patricia McCarthy of Whitman, Judith Cotter of Hanover, Peter Kenney of Quincy, Francis Kenney of Hanson, Philip Kenney of Brookline and Michael Kenney of Quincy. Brother of Paul Kenney of Westwood, James Kenney of FL, Edward Kenney of VA, William Kenney of CA and the late Roger Kenney. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.Mr. Kenney died Easter Sunday at home after a long illness. He was an Army Veteran of WWII, serving 3 years in New Guinea. He was a 1940 graduate of Weston High School. He was a corrections officer for the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Dept., retiring in 1983. A 50 year resident of Quincy, Mr. Kenney & his late wife Barbara T. were presented with the Adams Shore Community Assoc. “Good Neighbor Award” in 1991. For many years, Mr. Kenney participated in the City of Quincy’s Adopt an Island Program, caring for the island on Sea St. at the entrance to Adams Shore. He was a summer resident of Dennisport where he was an avid beach goer and swimmer. In his free time he enjoyed cribbage and participated in numerous leagues in Quincy. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church for 50 years. Donations in memory of Mr. Kenney may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 227 Sea St., Quincy, MA 02169.
