Moloney, Philip C. 80, formerly of Boston and a long time resident of Hull, passed away on May 16, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was the son of the late Philip C. Moloney and Alice (Mulvey) Moloney. Phil is survived by Shirley (Hawley) Moloney his beloved wife of 56 years. He is also survived by his three children Catherine Merra and her husband Michael, of Amherst N.H., C.J. Moloney and her husband Ken Cohen, of San Diego CA. and Philip Moloney of Foxboro, Ma. Phil was the devoted grandfather of Christopher and Anthony Merra, Alexandra Cohen, and Declan and Shannon Moloney. He is also survived by his sister Alice Hennessey and her husband Bill of Boston. He was predeceased by his brother Vincent Moloney and sisters Muriel Gilberto and Helen Moloney. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Phil graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1953 and earned his teaching degree from Fitchburg State College in 1957. After his graduation, he joined the faculty of the newly constructed Hull High School where Phil taught industrial arts, metal work and mechanical drawing until his retirement in 1994. After his family, Phil’s greatest joy in life was teaching his students skills they could use for a lifetime. He was a patient, giving and selfless man of many skills who was always happiest when teaching or helping others. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Celebration of life mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Hull High School Scholarship Fund, Hull High School, 180 Main St., Hull MA 02045.
