Cakridas, Peter N. of Quincy September 11, 2007. Beloved husband of Pauline Cakridas of Quincy and the late Dorothy Cakridas. Loving father of Pamela & husband John Curran and the late David Ford & wife Susan, all of Milton. Brother of the late Constance Turchinetz and Anastasia Cakridas. Beloved grandfather of Peter N. Curran, Julia Curran, Samantha Ford, Elena Curran, and Sarah Ford. Loving uncle of Maria & Bob Stenberg of Hull and Dena & Steve Kearney of Weymouth. Grand uncle of Nicholas & Maxwell Kearney. Cousin of Lucky & Paula Blathras and many other cousins. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Friday at 11:30 AM. Funeral service in Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, Braintree at 12:30 PM. Visiting hours Thursday 5-9 PM. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Mr. Cakridas served as President and CEO of the Leukemia Society of America for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. Previously, he worked as a field representative & regional director for both United Cerebral Palsy and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, also serving as campaign director for the Leukemia Society of America before becoming President. His family remembers Mr. Cakridas for his giving spirit and sense of family responsibility and loyalty. He often provided support for family members and he cared for his sisters when his father passed away. Nantasket Beach was a very special place for Mr. Cakridas and he found great enjoyment summering in Hull. A humble man overall, Mr. Cakridas found great satisfaction in the medical strides for treating children with leukemia in the yearse he served with the Society. He often recalled that when he began his work most children did not survive the disease. By the time he retired, most children were able to live a full life. Under the direction of Mr. Cakridas, the Leukemia Society of America was ranked in the top 10 by Forbes Magazine for the largest percentage of donations going directly to cancer research.
