Wallace, Peter J. of Quincy, died August 12, 2015.

Peter proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the COMSUBLANT submarine force aboard the USS Bushnell during the Korean War. He worked at New England Telephone and Telegraph as a 1st and 2nd line repairman with the TAG group. He also worked at AT&T and managed the technical training facility in Cambridge. He retired after 37 years.  His career with the telephone companies spanned the change in technology from the use of operator switchboards through the invention and use of mobile phones.  In 1971, he was the recipient of the Vail Medal and the Carnegie Hero Medal.  Peter, an avid sailor, was a member of the Squantum Yacht Club, and was an instructor through the Power Squadron Group.  He participated for 20 years in the Swim with a Special Child Program.  His pride and joy was his sailboat, the Lady Jane, and his family.  He was a hardworking, thoughtful and generous man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Beloved husband of Jane (Bernasconi) Wallace of Quincy. Loving father of Daniel Wallace of Quincy and Dianne Handrahan and her husband Thomas of East Bridgewater. Cherished grandfather of James Handrahan. Brother of the late Francis X. Wallace. Also survived by nieces and nephews.  Now reunited with his dearest friends, the late William Burke, Jack Walsh, John Wallace and Paul Colombo. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy followed by a burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to the Swim with a Special Child Program, 47 Gilbert Road, Weymouth, MA 02189.
