McDonough, Peter J. of Quincy, died on Monday, December 6, 2010. Beloved husband of Andrea (Valle) McDonough of Quincy. Loving father of William, Patrick, both of Boston, Peter and his wife Marie, Sean and his wife LeeAnn and Kristen Van Tassell and her husband Bernard, all of Quincy. Son of the late Thomas McDonough and Barbara (McDonagh). Brother of the late Michael, Mary Polvere, Catherine Daly, Thomas, Festus, Coleman, Robert, Patrick, Paul and Barbara Burke. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Peter’s life revolved around his family. He enjoyed hunting, boating and fishing. Peter coached his sons for many years in Squantum Youth Baseball. He purchased the Wheelhouse Diner in Quincy eight years ago and met many close friends. A warm and loving man, he could be direct and very honest. Like his father, he was the 7th son of a 7th son. A detective with the Boston Police, he retired in 1988 after 24 years of service. Peter belonged to several Boston Police organizations including, the Retired Officers Association, Emerald Society, Patrolmans Association and a founding member of the Detectives Union. He was a recipient of the Schroeder Brothers Memorial Medal presented to him for acts of valor by the Boston Police Department. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday, December 10, 2010 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations in memory of Peter may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Cops For Kids With Cancer, P.O. Box 850956, Braintree, MA 02185.
