Peter J. Chrisom, Sr.

Peter J. Chrisom, Sr., a retried principal of North Quincy High School and a United States Marine Corps veteran died suddenly at Milton Hospital on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2011. He was 81. Born and raised in Quincy, Peter began his near lifelong relationship with North Quincy High School as a member of the Class of 1948. He then went on to earn bachelors and masters degrees from Boston College and a commission in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He returned to the Quincy Public Schools as a history teacher quickly earning promotions to head of his department and assistant principal at North Quincy High School before assuming the principal’s position. He served as principal for 26 years before retiring in 1998. He was honored with a testimonial at the time of his retirement and in 2011, the school recognized his service again by dedicating both the school auditorium and yearbook in his honor. As loyal as Peter was to North Quincy High School, he was equally as devoted to the Marine Corps, Boston College, his Irish heritage and his Catholic faith. He faithfully attended the annual Marine Corps birthday celebration with his sons, followed Boston College sports, especially football, hosted St. Patrick’s Day parties and attended Mass regularly at St. Mary of the Hills Parish in Milton. Of all he became a part of in his life, however, Peter’s greatest loyalty and pride was reserved for his wife, children and grandchildren. Spending time with them at home in Milton, at his beloved summer home in Harwich or at their school and athletic events was his greatest joy. The loving and devoted husband of 51 years to the late Joan P. (Kenney) Chrisom, he was also the loving and supportive father of Peter J. Chrisom, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Weymouth, Sean V. Chrisom and his wife Faith of Holliston, Susan de Varennes and her husband Robert of Braintree, Brendan K. Chrisom and his wife Karen of Dover, NH, Patricia A. McCart, Brian M. Chrisom and his wife Janet, Maureen H. Berry and her husband Christopher and Kevin B. Chrisom and his wife Amy all of Milton the cherished “Da” to 23 grandchildren, the brother of the late Mary Peshek and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Mt.
