Peter W. Hilton, Sr., affectionately known as Pete, passed away on March 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and service to others. He was 80. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, embodying the values of dedication and patriotism throughout his life.
Pete was a man of many interests; he had a passion for antique cars and a deep appreciation for western films.
One of Pete’s proudest accomplishments was being named “Volunteer of the Year” at Quincy Hospital. His commitment to humanitarian efforts extended beyond local boundaries, as he served on the Human Rights Commission in Quincy. Through this role, he worked diligently to raise funds for the less fortunate in China and was instrumental in supporting an orphanage in Luoyang, China. His heart for service was reflected in his daily interactions and the difference he made in the lives of others.
Pete cherished traveling, particularly his annual drive to Florida with his beloved wife. These journeys were filled with joy and adventure. He also found great joy in visiting local restaurants and was known for savoring his daily cup of coffee at Dunkin’ Donuts.
In honoring his memory, we remember Peter W. Hilton, Sr. as a man who enriched the lives of those around him through his humor, compassion, and unwavering spirit of service. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was the beloved husband of 50 years to the late Joan C. (Daly) Hilton. Loving father of Bernadette Hilton of Weymouth; Peter W. Hilton, Jr. and his wife Maryann of Palm Coast, FL; and Ellen Abouzeid and her husband Nassim of Rockland. Proud "Gramps" to Peter W., III, Kassidy, Maori, Amelia, Alanah, Justin, Claudia, and Zachary. Brother of Anne Marie Hilton of Weymouth and the late Stephen Hilton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Peter’s dogs, Mitten, Mitten and Mitten were also a big part of his life.
