Following his honorable discharge in 1946 most of his working career was at Peter’s and company in Dorchester as chief engineer producing custom fabricated stainless steel restaurant kitchen equipment. After his retirement he spent time traveling with his wife and vacationing in Florida. His favorite trip was to Hawaii. Later in life he spent time at the Whipple Center in Weymouth where he especially enjoyed playing cribbage with his friends. He enjoyed watching football and baseball on TV. Pelly was a member of the Local 17 sheet metal workers union and an active member of the local 17 retirees club where he served as treasurer. He served as chaplain for the veterans of foreign wars post 1399. He marched in the local town veterans and Memorial Day parades, concluding the parade at the town hall where he would open the ceremony with prayers. He was an extraordinary, selfless man who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
