Pauline M. Gillooly, a cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by her family. Pauline was born in Boston to the late Joseph and Nelida Richard. Pauline was a proud graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. After graduation, she embarked on a career as a bank teller at South Shore Savings Bank. Beyond her professional life, Pauline was a devoted homemaker and mom, creating a warm and loving home for her family. Pauline was an accomplished craftswoman, with a special talent for crocheting, knitting, and needlepoint. Her handcrafted creations were not only beautiful but were also expressions of her love and care, which she generously shared with all around her. She also dedicated time to volunteering at the Whitman Senior Center.
Pauline was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late Edward G. Gillooly. Her life was shared with her loving children, Paula Sheeran and her husband Peter of Whitman, Theresa Baranowski and her late husband John of Halifax, Edward J. Gillooly and his wife Linda of Mashpee, Marie Chaput of Hopkinton, Joseph Gillooly and his wife Marcia of Rockland, Robert Gillooly and his wife Jennifer of Plymouth, and the late Joanne Cufaude and her husband Roger of Weymouth. She was predeceased by her seven siblings but leaves behind a vibrant tapestry of family, including many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Pauline’s role as a grandmother was one of her greatest joys. She was the proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply and who brought her immense happiness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral mass in Holy Ghost, Whitman, at 11 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
