Paula L. (McHugh) Vinton of Hull passed away suddenly at age 76 Saturday August 18th at the South Shore Hospital from complications from Pulmonary Fibrosis surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Paula was born in Boston to Virginia (Henry) McHugh and John McHugh. She was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain, Quincy, Braintree and Dorchester where she graduated from Dorchester High School.
Paula is survived by her husband Raymond, the boy next door, who she met at age 12 and was married to for 59 years. Paula is survived by her five children, Paula of Hull, Christine and her husband Stanley Wynter of Hull, Brad and his wife Ann of Norwell, Janet and her fiancée Ernesto Caparrotta of Hull and Glenn and his wife Marianne of Hingham. She is also survived by her eight sisters and brothers – Patricia McHugh and her husband Steven Best of Brockton, Christine McHugh of Brockton, Peter McHugh and his wife Sue of Canton, Catherine Quigg and her husband Billy of Pembroke, Cora McHugh of Milton, John McHugh of Thailand, Paul McHugh and his wife Christine of Mansfield and Virginia Scandlan-Keppler of Canton. Paula was also the proud nana to Glenn and David of Hingham and Sean and Connor of Norwell. She also leaves behind eleven nieces and nephews.
After working as a stay at home mom for 18 years, Paula entered the business world at Westinghouse in Hyde Park. In 1978 Paula went to work for FEMA as a disaster site coordinator traveling through the US to disaster sites. She then had the opportunity to enter the tele communication industry where she worked for several large tele communication companies as a site manager and training instructor. Twenty years ago she was forced into retirement after being diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Retirement afforded her more time to spend with her family, book clubs, yoga and her many friends. She will never be forgotten and will be missed by all that knew her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass Saturday in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Paula Vinton to support the Pulmonary Fibrosis Research Fund at Brigham & Woman’s Hospital Development Office, 116 Huntington Avenue, 3rd floor Boston, MA 02116 or online at www.bwhgiving.org or any other charity of your choosing.
