Paul William Evans of Quincy, MA, originally from Dorchester, MA, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2022 at 74 years of age following a short battle with lymphoma. He was surrounded by loving family and friends in his last days.
He was born to Katherine (Cibulsky) and William Evans in 1948 in Brookline, MA and grew up in Dorchester, MA with his older sister, Edith Dubrawski. Paul was a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School and the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he studied biology. He had a fulfilling career, most notably working as an investigator for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and as a director of regulatory affairs for Tyco International/Kendall.
Over the course of his life, Paul found joy in many ways. His fondest memories of early life were the years he spent sailing the waters of Boston. He was also a talented oil painter, an enthusiastic Boston Bruins fan, a lover of live music—especially jazz; he even learned to play the trumpet in his later years—and always enjoyed a casual game of pool with his friends and family. He also loved to travel around the quaint cities of the Northeast, and recently took a train trip to the Grand Canyon and explored the wonders of Italy. One of Paul’s greatest joys was raising his children, Sarah and Jonathan. He cherished his time attending Sarah’s dance performances and visiting her in Minneapolis, cheering on Jonathan at hockey games and celebrating his accomplishments in the Massachusetts National Guard. Paul will be dearly missed by many beloved family members and friends.
Paul is survived by his two children, Sarah Evans and husband Bryan of Minneapolis, MN, and Jonathan Evans of Wellesley, MA, his niece Donna Hawkesworth and husband Chris of Abington, MA, and nephew Paul Dubrawski and wife Beth of Duxbury, MA. Paul is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Patricia Evans of Wellesley, MA. He is predeceased by his parents, Katherine and William Evans, and his sister, Edith Dubrawski.
The family respectfully invites relatives and friends to honor and celebrate Paul’s life during memorial visiting hours on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022 from 4 to 8PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 40 Sea Street, Weymouth, MA followed by a memorial mass on Friday, Nov. 18,2022 at 10AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 550 Washington Street, Quincy, MA.
As he wished, Paul will be cremated and his ashes spread over Boston Harbor where he spent some of the best years of his life sailing.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made in his name to
Boston Community Boating and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
