Paul W. Katapodis

Mr. Paul W. Katapodis, of Weymouth, passed away on October 22, 2023. Paul was born and raised in the Fields Corner section of Dorchester MA. He graduated from Dorchester High School in 1965 and continued his education through an apprenticeship with General Dynamics and then eventually joined the Local 537 Pipefitters Union. Paul was a proud and extremely hardworking member of his union and dedicated over 50 years of life to Local 537. He spent his free time coaching Mill Stream Little League, serving as an umpire for the Men’s Softball League of Dorchester, and playing softball for Foley’s Tavern, where he also worked as a bartender. He had fond memories of winning the Mayor’s Cup with his softball teammates.

In his later years, Paul was a member and volunteer of the Sons of Italy Lodge #1295. He enjoyed spending time there, hanging out with his friends, setting up events, and serving on the Board of Trust. He was a proud Grampi and loved spending his weekends watching his grandchildren play football, hockey, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse. Paul loved golfing and traveling to play at different golf courses around the world. Paul’s favorite pastime, however, was spending time at the beach. Paul was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son-in-law, uncle, and friend and he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Brother of Michael Katapodis of Brockton, Michelle Mancuso of Conn, and the late Diane Cronin.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday, October 29th from 3-6pm at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street(Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Late Pipefitter, Local # 537.
