Paul V. “Mick” Mcconnell

McConnell, Paul V. “Mick” of Hingham, MA passed away January 29, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Uvenia “Toots” (Gallagher). Loving father of Paul J. McConnell of Jupiter, FL, Kathleen McElaney of Hingham, MA, Susan Ullum of Louisville, KY, Matthew McConnell of Edgewater, MD, and Vincent McConnell of Kingwood, Texas. Brother of Thomas McConnell of Kinnelon, NJ, and the late John McConnell, Bernadette McConnell, and Patricia Gunderman. Also survived by 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Paul is a member of the Elmira Football Hall of Fame and the New York State Football Hall of Fame. He originally attended Notre Dame on a football scholarship in 1940. After World War II in 1947 he graduated from Bucknell University where he was captain of the football team. Paul served in the Pacific in the Army Air Corps as a navigator and bombardier. Paul and his wife raised their family in Chatham, NJ. He was very involved at Corpus Christi Church and Eva’s Kitchen and Shelter. Paul retired as a vice president of West Point Pepperell textiles. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Paul’s Funeral Mass on Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Paul’s Church, 147 North Street, Hingham. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hingham Interfaith Food Pantry, 685 Main Street, Hingham, MA 02043.
