McDonough, Paul T. of Quincy, died March 30, 2017. 

Paul grew up in Dorchester and moved to Quincy over 50 years ago.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and served during the Korean War.   Paul was a Boston police patrolmen and later served as a detective for 29 years.  One of his highlights was being chosen for security when Pope John Paul II came to Boston.  His passions in life included his family, his job, and his beloved Boston sports teams, especially the Patriot’s and Red Sox.  Paul was quite the athlete and enjoyed afternoon walks, and golf.  In his early years he was a Hall of Fame football player for Boston English High School.  After receiving many Division 1 offers out of High School Paul accepted a full scholarship to play football at Xavier University.  He later played for the Boston Park League.  He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life; time with family and friends, afternoons by the pool, and attending his grandchildren’s numerous activities. 

Beloved husband of Marie A. (Mayer) McDonough of Squantum.  Loving father of Liesl Radzik and her husband Rick of Quincy, Erin Boylan and her husband Eddie of Squantum, and Paula Glynn and her husband Barry of Squantum.  Dear son of the late Thomas V. McDonough, BPD and Margaret F. (Rice) McDonough. Cherished brother of Thomas McDonough and his wife Patricia of Readville, Ann Higgins of Plainville, Jack McDonough and his wife Mary of Milton, Jane Murphy and her husband Joe of Braintree, and the late Robert “Emmett” McDonough.  Brother in law to Kathy McDonough of Braintree, Jean Green of Squantum, and the late John Green.  Devoted “Pa” to Alison and Alexa Radzik, Shannon, Kathryn, and Emma Boylan, and Brendan and Paul Glynn.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul may be made to Quincy Animal Shelter, PO Box 690088, Quincy, MA 02269.
