Cheney, Paul R. Chief Court Officer – Norfolk County, of Hingham, May 3, 2007. The beloved husband of 54 years to Eugenia H. (Perkins) Cheney of Hingham. Father of Jean M. Edwards of Hingham, Paul R. Cheney, Jr. of Hanover and the late Donna Cheney Powers . Brother of Thomas Cheney of Quincy, Daniel Cheney of Braintree and Marie Lawlor of Westwood. Paul is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham, Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 4- 9 PM. Burial in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. Donations in memory of Mr. Cheney may be made to a charity of your choice. W.W. II United States Coast Guard Veteran. Paul grew up in Boston. He graduated from Commerce High School in Boston. Paul served in the United States Coast Guard during W.W.II. After his military service he began working for the John C. Paige Insurance company in Boston. He then opened his own insurance company called Riverview Insurance Agency located in Hingham. Paul was also a special police officer in Hingham for many years as well as the past president of the Hingham Kiwanis Club. Mr. Cheney was also a notary. He began a new career as a Deputy Sheriff – Plymouth County and then became a court officer for the Plymouth Superior Court and Brockton District Court. Mr. Cheney was then promoted to the rank of Chief Court Officer at Norfolk Superior Court, District Court, Probate Court and Juvenial Court Complex. He served as a court officer for more than 40 years. He had not officially retired. Mr. Cheney was a dedicated employee who was proud to work in law enforcement. Paul was a devoted husband of 54 years and loving father and grandfather as well as a cherished brother. He was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, until we meet again.
