Paul H. Lee, of Weymouth, formerly of Dorchester, Quincy, and Marshfield, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, at the age of 92. A man of profound kindness and wisdom, Paul touched the lives of many. Born on November 8, 1931, to the late Herbert and Ann Lee, his life was defined by an unwavering devotion to his family, his country, and his community.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Paul served his country with distinction before embarking on a remarkable 37½-year career with the Boston Police Department. He began as a detective, later transitioning to the arson investigation unit, and upon retirement, continued his service as a U.S. Marshal. His career was a true testament to his unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of others.
Paul was a devoted family man and the beloved husband of Rose (Amendolare) Lee of Weymouth, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage. He was the cherished father of Janet Purcell and her husband Robert, Thomas Lee and his wife Kathleen, and Rosemary Brewster and her husband Joseph. His love extended to his nieces and nephews, particularly his dear niece Deborah "Debbie" Gilbody, daughter of his sister Marie Gilbody-Carr. He was a proud and loving "Papa" or "Papa-Paul" to his six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Paul also leaves behind his brother-in-law Joseph Amendolare and his late wife Ann Marie of Braintree, and his sisters-in-law Camille Leonardi and her husband Dave of Scituate, and Laurie Whitten and her husband Robert of Florida.
In addition to his professional achievements, Paul was a talented craftsman who found great joy in meticulously building and creating, whether in his garage or basement. He also had a passion for landscaping, transforming his yard into a beautiful retreat that his family could enjoy.
Family and friends are warmly invited to join in remembrance and offer their condolences during visiting hours on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, South Weymouth, 809 Main Street (Route 18, opposite South Shore Hospital).
