Colon, Paul L. of Weymouth, passed away February 8, 2013 at the age of 83. Paul lived in both Boston and Quincy for many years before moving to Weymouth 20 years ago. He graduated from Boston University in 1958 and worked at Boston University School of Medicine doing cancer research for over 40 years. Paul worked for the City of Boston for 46 years retiring in 1990 as a Lieutenant with Boston Emergency Medical Services. Paul was especially proud of his dedicated service to his country with the United States Navy. He enlisted in 1946 and served for 41 years, 4 months and 10 days, until retiring in 1989 as Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman. Paul was recalled to active duty from the reserves for the Korean War, assigned to USNH Portsmouth; Dispensary, Newport, RI; and Fleet Aircraft Service Squadron 101, RI. He later joined the Massachusetts National Guard in 1954. In 1957 he rejoined the Naval Reserves assigned to 2nd Infantry BN with the United States Marine Corp Reserves. He remained with the Marine Corp Reserves until retirement. In the years since his retirement, Paul has been a member of the Top Three Military Retired Association. He will be sadly missed.

Beloved husband of the late Patricia (Corcoran) Colon. Devoted father of Paul A. Colon of Reading and Leslie M. Colon of Weymouth.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.)  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Friday at 9 AM prior to the burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Salvation Army, 6 Baxter Street, Quincy, MA 02169.
