Paul J. Downey

Downey, Paul J. of Quincy, passed away March 2, 2011. Beloved husband of Frances A. “Fay” (Lynch) Downey of Quincy. Loving father of Beth Sulger and her husband Josh of Braintree, and Brian Downey of Braintree. Cherished grandfather of Amy Downey-Whalen. Brother of James Downey of Quincy, Carol Sloan of Stoughton, Robert Downey of Revere, Cathy Partello of NH, and the late Ronald Downey. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Paul’s life revolved around his family. He graduated from North Quincy High School and was a state gymnastic champion on the rings. A lab technician for research and development at Polaroid, he retired in 2001 after 32 years with the company. As the unofficial family photographer, he was known to have taken many photos. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking with family and friends. Paul was devoted to his family and always saw the good in others. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 5-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
