Paul Henri Philippon

July 7, 1942 – January 17, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Henri Philippon, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend on January 17, 2025, at the age of 82 after a long illness.

Paul was born on July 7th, 1942, the eldest child of Lionel and Delia Philippon and loving brother to Raymond Philippon. He grew up in Winthrop, Maine, where he developed a deep love for science and engineering. Paul served in the U.S. Army, where he supported U.S. operations in Haiti as a medic. Following his U.S. Army service, Paul attended the University of Maine, where he discovered a talent for music and began playing guitar. He started a local band and played in several music groups before returning to his education at Northeastern University.

Paul earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern. Beginning a long career in equipment engineering and systems management, Paul enjoyed technical roles at Corning Glass Works and the Dynatech Research and Development Company. But it was during his lengthy tenures at The Foxboro Company and A.W. Chesterton Company, where he began managing computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems, when he truly hit his stride professionally.

In addition to his love for all things technical, Paul dedicated the rest of his attention to being a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carolyn, and a supportive dad to his daughter, Ann. A person of remarkable determination and stubbornness, he was known for his insatiable passion for science, technology, and computers. Throughout his life, Paul could often be found tinkering with gadgets on his basement workbench, conspiring with Ann on science fair projects or class presentations, studying the latest Apple operating system in his computer room, or marveling at new discoveries in the worlds of astronomy and physics on PBS or YouTube.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel and Delia Philippon, and several dear aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Michael Vincent of Chepachet, RI, and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Brenda Philippon of Nashua, NH.

A Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday 1/25/2025 at 11 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, Hingham. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Paul's memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA Chapter, 320 Nevada St. #201, Newton, MA 02460.
