Paul Gillis

Mr. Paul M. Gillis, of Braintree, died June 29, 2022.

Born in Boston, a son of the late John and  Mary Jane (Mac Eacren) Gillis, both of Cape Breton, Canada. Paul attended Boston Schools and graduated from Roslindale High School.

He studied Civil Engineering at Northeastern, Boston State Teachers School as well as Lowell Tech Institute. Paul served his country with the United States Navy receiving his Honorable Discharge in November 1954 as a senior airman 1st class. He retired from the state highway department as a civil engineer after 27 years service beginning as a co-op student from Northeastern. Paul was active in the Knights of Columbus in West Roxbury.

He was also a Webelo leader and Assisiant Cub Master of Pack 73 Weymouth and Scout Master of Troop 73 in Weymouth, CYO soccer coach with Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth. After moving to Holland Ma, he served as a member of Economic Develpment Committee, Elementary School Building Committee, chairman of the C.O.A. Planning Board and chairman of the zoning board of appeals, as a Holland Selectman he served as the Towns Representative for the construction of the new Holland Town Hall his last position with the town as chairman of the Senior Center Building Committee. 

Husband of the late Margaret (Quigley) Gillis of Medford, Ma. Father of Theresa Ann Gillis of Weymouth, John Gillis and his wife, Laura, of Frisco, Texas, and Lawrnece Gillis of Hingham. Grandfather of Andrew Gillis, Danielle Glathorn and Erica and Jessica Hayes Brother of Thomas Gillis of Marshfield and the late John Gillis, Charles Gillis, Mary Goff, Jean Flynn, and Joseph Gillis. 

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, July 26th at 10:15 am at Mass national Cemetery in Bourne.
