Paul E. Sivacek

Paul E. Sivacek, 80, of Hull, formerly of Westwood and Dover, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2022 with loving family members at his side.

Paul was born in Boston in 1942 and lived on Bogandale Road in West Roxbury for 16 years before his family moved to Dover. He was educated in Boston Public Schools and graduated from Boston Trade High School in 1960. He then joined his father Paul Sr. in the family business, P.J. Pastry Shop, in Dedham Square, a business his father co-founded in 1933.

In 1970, he married Mildred S. Paken of Hyde Park, New York and moved to Westwood, where they resided for 30 years and raised their two daughters, Susan and Kristine.

Paul’s younger brother Eddie also joined the family business and together they ran P.J. Pastry Shop after their father’s retirement in 1975. Paul was a hardworking member of the Massachusetts Retail Bakers Association (MRBA) and served on the governing board for several years. He and his brother routinely entered MRBA competitions for baking excellence and in 1979 their entry won First Place in the Bread & Rolls Category, as judged by renowned cooking teacher, author and television personality Julia Child.

Despite his busy work life, Paul still found time to enjoy his hobbies and interests — his model train & ship collections, cooking & baking, and watching Boston Bruins hockey games, his favorite New England sports team. Throughout the years he spent many happy hours outdoors, in and on the ocean, skin diving and scuba diving, especially enjoying sailing the family’s boats, the “P.J. II” and later the “Windfall” with his brother, off the coasts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Paul was predeceased by his parents Paul Sr. and Elizabeth of Dover, and his much-loved younger sister Ann, who passed away in 1951. He was predeceased in 2020 by his loving wife, Sheila M. (Brady) Sivacek of Hull, whom he married in 2001. During their marriage, they enjoyed many sun-filled days on Nantasket Beach, vacation cruises, and spending time with their families, especially their grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his loving & devoted daughters, Susan E. Devlin of Norwell and Kristine A. Sivacek of Medway, along with his cherished grandson Jack E. Devlin and son-in-law Edward Devlin, also of Norwell; his brother, best friend, and business partner Edward M. Sivacek and his longtime partner Rebecca Reese of East Greenwich, R.I. He is also survived by cousins and other relations in Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North & South Carolina, Canada, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Per Paul’s request, final arrangements will be private.
