Paul David DeRosa, of Quincy, Ma. Also known as the “Gentle Giant”, passed peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Paul was the young age of 50.
Paul was born in Boston on June 26, 1973. He was raised in West Roxbury, and Cape Cod attended Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School and moved on to West Roxbury High school where he graduated with the Class of 1992. Following high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. on September 8, 1992, and proudly served his country during the Persian Gulf War. Paul was honorably discharged on April 3, 1993. Following his time in the service, Paul studied as an EMT, studied as an Apprentice Plumber, then went into business for himself. He was the CEO/ Founder of “99 Handy” nominated “Boston’s Finest Handyman”. He loved his work and the client relationships he built throughout his career, he was very proud of.
Paul chose to be an organ donor, and at the time of his death, he was able to donate his retina for 5 patients to bring them sight, he donated his Heart valves, his skin for burn patients and his bones for those in need. His selflessness, love for family, neighbors and country are part of his legacy that continues through all who knew and loved him.
Paul was the cherished son of Theresa Marie DeRosa of Quincy. Paul was the father of two beautiful sons Antonio and Dante DeRosa. He was the loving brother of Danielle DeRosa-Medeiros and her husband Carlos, loving brother to Jacquelyn Delhon DeRosa and Jennifer Kelley and her husband Shawn. And his loving friend and confidant to Marisa DiCicco. Last but not least, he leaves his best companion and baby, his Son/Dog service rottweiler, (Handy).
Paul is also survived by two loving nieces Isabella Medeiros, and Valentina Delhon DeRosa, a kind hearted nephew Joshua Medeiros, a Great nephew Vincent Medeiros, many aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family, and friends.
Following cremation, by Paul’s request, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 6th at The Divine Mercy Parish in Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock St., in Quincy, MA. He will be interred in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA with a Patriot Honor Guard and Military Honors at 2:30 PM. Paul chose the National Bourne Cemetery to be close to his Beloved Grandfather Anthony J. DeRosa.
In lieu of flowers, at Paul’s request, memorial contributions may be sent in Paul’s name to any of his favorite Organizations, The Homeless Veteran Organization, Child Abuse Organization, or the American Heart Association of one’s choice.
