Paul A. Morell of Hingham, Massachusetts passed on into the loving arms of God on October 4th after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Paul was the devoted son of Paul and Anita Morell of Morganville, NJ and loving brother of Mark Moore of Tallahassee, FL. Paul was predeceased by his sister, Anita. Paul’s steadfast faith in Christ, love for his family, and passion for flying as a United States Air Force pilot, and later, as a Captain with Northwest Airlines, deeply impacted all who knew this remarkable man of God. Raised in Morganville, NJ, Paul shined as a scholar-athlete in high school in football and wrestling. Upon graduation, Paul earned a scholarship and appointment by his congressman to the United States Air Force Academy. In June 1978, Paul graduated a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force. Assigned to Charleston Air Force Base, SC, Paul flew the C-141, a large four-engine jet transport which brought him to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America. He later upgraded within the Air Force from copilot, to Aircraft Commander to instructor pilot. At the age of 26, Paul began a 20 year career flying commercial jets with Northwest Airlines. He was a “poet-pilot,” who dabbled in painting, dance and improv theater. Also a marathon runner, triathlon competitor and cyclist, Paul lived life passionately. In 1995, Paul married Tahni, his best friend and “the woman of his dreams,” and together they fulfilled their dream of world travel and building a family. Paul’s Catholic faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a team member and speaker for the youth ministry group, C.A.M.P.S. In recent years, Paul developed and led a moral decision-making retreat for teens, and together with Tahni, served as a team leader for Catholic marriage preparation classes. Paul was also a television host and program coordinator for Boston Catholic Television’s Fatima Today program. Over the years, he led several men’s faith-sharing groups. Paul spent his life promoting the Gospel, and was tireless in his efforts to bring others to Christ. Paul was happiest when surrounded by his children, and in the arms of his wife, Tahni. His strong moral character, unwavering faith in God, pointed honesty, and wry sense of humor have left an indelible impression on the hearts of all who knew him. Above all else, Paul cherished Tahni, Julia, Michael and Matthew who will keep his beloved memory alive in their hearts forever.
