Patrick Liam Joyce

Patrick Liam Joyce of South Weymouth, recently passed away at his home at the age of 53. Cherished son of Virginia M. (Duffy) Joyce of Hull, and the late Bernard W. Joyce of Maine.  Loving brother of Jennifer Hall and her husband James of Kingston, and Erin Joyce and her husband Arthur Welch of Milton.  Loving uncle of Emma Hall, Christopher Hall, Aidan Welch and Owen Welch.  Patrick is also survived by his loyal canine companion, Elizabeth, and was predeceased by his loyal canine companions Max and Megan.

Upon graduating from Weymouth South High School in 1987, Patrick proudly served his country by enlisting and serving in the United States Marine Corp.  When he returned home from his military service, he began serving the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in his role as a Corrections Officer within the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department.  He recently retired from his post as Sergeant, and was looking forward to what the future held for him.

Patrick was an incredibly generous person and was always there for his family and friends; he was considered a brother by many.   Patrick enjoyed spending time with his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He also loved spending time with his canine companions at the Stoddard Dog Park in Hingham.  He was a loyal fan to all Boston sports teams, with a special affinity for the Bruins and Red Sox.

Our hearts are full of sorrow for the loss of our dear son, brother, uncle and friend.  Still, we take comfort in the many memories of Patrick and his robust life, a life well lived.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects during visiting hours on Thursday May 26th from 4-8 PM at The McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, South Weymouth (Rte 18 opposite South Shore Hospital).  Relatives and friends are also invited to gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Friday, May 27th preceding a Funeral Mass at St Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth at 10 AM.  Cremation will follow.  Donations in memory of Patrick may be made to the South Shore Humane Society, PO Box 850187, Braintree, MA 02185.
