It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick Howard Coughlin, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and son of God, who left us far too soon at the age of 29 on April 25, 2025. Patrick’s greatest pride and blessing in life was his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Melissa C. Coughlin and their beautiful daughter, Maeve E. Coughlin. They were the loves of his life - his passion and his peace - and his passing leaves an irreplaceable void in their lives. Patrick, Melissa, and Maeve loved slow mornings, weekend walks, and just being together. These moments fully define who he was as a husband, a father, and a man. Their love story will live on.
Patrick is survived by his loving parents Bruce and Cherie Coughlin of Falmouth, MA. Patrick was their miracle, a true gift from God and one of the greatest joys of their lives. Patrick shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings: his brother, Matthew Coughlin and his wife Michelle, and his sister Abigail Dennehy and her husband Patrick - all of Hingham. “Uncle Pat” adored his time with his four nieces and nephews - Declan and Clara Dennehy, and Grady and Rowan Coughlin. He is also survived by grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
Patrick was born in Boston, MA and grew up in North Attleboro and Medway. Patrick’s deeply loving character combined with his kind, gentle, and confident spirit was cultivated through his education at Fay School, Xaverian Brothers High School, and Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he earned his degree in Marine Transportation. At these schools, he developed his most cherished lifelong friendships. Words cannot describe the profound impact Patrick had on his friend’s lives - and them on his. Their love for each other stands as a model for all.
Patrick had an incredible passion for the ocean which he was able to cultivate as a sailor and instructor in Falmouth, MA. His summers in Falmouth provided some of his favorite childhood memories. He was known as one of the most rugged cooks at the Clam Shack while working alongside his siblings, cousins, and dear friends. Patrick was a diehard Boston Bruins fan and enjoyed his season tickets and going to the games (even though he vehemently disagreed with most of management’s recent decisions - i.e. Brad Marchand’s departure). At his core, Patrick brought a creative spirit to everything in his life, including his passion for his car, cooking, and making really good coffee. Most importantly, Patrick had a strong faith in God that was the center of his life.
Patrick was born to change the world and he did. His life, love, faith, and friendships will continue to be shown through his wife, daughter, family, and beloved friends. Through the 29 years of his life, he traveled the world by boat, loved through his music, and changed the world with his heart. Patrick may have passed from this bodily world, but his life and spirit live on in every person that he has touched. Patrick was the perfect illustration of what a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend should be and he will be missed dearly. Patrick now resides with the Lord in heaven, and Melissa is comforted in knowing that Patrick is united with their baby that they recently lost to miscarriage.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 4/30/2025 from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham.
