Pike-Smolinsky, Patricia M. (Ellis) 86 of Squantum died peacefully on April 1, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was a Squantum resident for sixty-two years.
She was born in Boston to the late Webster and Mary T. Ellis and was the eldest of nine children. She grew up in Mattapan, MA and was a graduate of Hyde Park H.S. Beloved wife of the late George “Dan” Pike and the late John D. Smolinsky. As a young women Pat worked at State Street, Boston, in the bookkeeping department. In 1959 Pattie and Dan moved to Squantum where they raised their four children. She loved her home in Squantum and loved spending time gardening. Pattie worked at Squantum Elementary for a time and had lots of friends and family in and around Squantum. Pattie and John married in 1990. They had fourteen wonderful years together. Pattie especially loved her summer home in Otisfield, Maine and spent several summers there. It was a labor of love and dream of her first husband Dan to build an A-frame “camp”. Camp was completed in 1980, with help from many family members and friends. Pattie enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with John each winter. She loved her very large family, extended family and especially loved her brothers and sisters. Staying connected to her roots was very important to her. She enjoyed family events, traveling together and holiday gatherings. She also loved her dearest friends Pat H., Bunny and Pat J. She loved the lake in Maine, talk radio, gardening, bowling, watching golf, quilting and sewing, reading, solitaire and even shoveling snow when she was young.
She was a devoted sister and sister-in-law to Robert & Linda Ellis, Evelyn & George Leber, Sonny Ellis, Terry & Rob Banfitch, Carol & Sam Keats, Marcia Ellis, and Christine Ellis. She is pre deceased by her brother William Ellis, Joe & Maureen Ellis & Webster “Junior” Ellis. She was a devoted mother to her four children and their families. Karen & Bryan Chapman, Shawn and Lisa Rafferty-Chapman, Matt & Emily Chapman, Ben & Nichole Chapman, Steven & Wendy Pike, Jacqui Pike, Daniel Pike & Michelle Newman-Pike.
She loved her Smolinsky family too. Frank & Erin Smolinsky, Curt & Chris Smolinsky, Mark & Diane Smolinsky, Jay Smolinsky & Ann Chisholm-Hadley, Liz Griswold, Gail Carey, Ruthann & Ron Page and Margaret O’Keefe.
She was known as Nana Pat & Grammy to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had many nieces, nephews and extended family. Pattie will be remembered as having an easy sense of humor. She enjoyed a story or joke with a smile and a little laughter and had a subtle way of making others laugh.
Special thanks to VNA/Hospice of Cape Cod and to Martha, Carol, Sue and John H. Mom loved all of you so much. Our family is forever grateful to you for the love, and dedication you showed to our Mom over the past eighteen months.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday 9:00-10:30 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
