Patricia C. And Ewen D. Mcdonald

Patricia C. McDonald (Doolan) and her beloved husband, of 66 years, Ewen D. McDonald of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023 and on April 11, 2023, respectively. Patrica was 85 and Ewen was 90 years old.

Patricia was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and was the daughter of the late Michael and Henrietta Doolan (Kehoe). Patricia was educated in Cape Breton and moved to the US in 1960 where she settled in Dorchester and then moved to Weymouth in 1973. She was a graduate of Boston City School of Nursing and went on to work as Nurse at the Hancock Manor Nursing Home in Dorchester for more than 40 years. Patricia excelled in her nursing career, advancing to the position of supervisor and then director of nurses. She also volunteered for many years working at the Weymouth Food Pantry and the Weymouth Senior Center. Patricia will be remembered for her loving ways and her kindness to all she encountered.

Cherished mother of Colleen Dresselaers of MD. and Julie Rollins and her husband Rob of Weymouth. Loving grandmother to Victoria Underhill and her husband Greg of MD., Dr’s Elizabeth and Tommy Gladnick of MD., Rachelle Rollins of Boston and Dustin Rollins of Saipan, CNMI. Adoring great-grandmother to Braden, Sydney, Daphne, Mackenzie and Joseph all of MD, and Amara, Aria and Julian all of Boston. Preceded in death by her sisters Mary Baker and Sally Bishop. Ewen was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and was the son of the late Norman and Hazel McDonald (Bond). After he and his wife Patricia moved to the U.S., Ewen worked as a mechanic and never lost his passion for tinkering on cars. He was later employed as a sheet metal worker at the General Dynamics Shipyard in Quincy. Ewen was an avid Boston Bruins fan. Most of all, Ewen was an incredibly proud “Papa” to his beloved grandchildren and his daughters Colleen and Julie adored him. He was the brother of the late Norma Butts, Wendall McDonald, Connie Morrison, and Thorold McDonald. He was loved by many family members in the U.S. and in Cape Breton.
