Patricia Byrnes Lafond

Patricia Byrnes LaFond, of Hingham, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 24, 2021. She was 85.

Born in Boston on September 30, 1936, she was raised in Dorchester and was the daughter of the late Daniel P. and Ernestine (Caffanges) Byrnes. Patricia attended local schools and graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester with the Class of 1954.

A homemaker, Patricia raised her children with love and devotion. A woman of great strength, she instilled values in her children to help make them strong and successful people like herself. Patricia was known for giving great advice, being supportive and having a great sense of humor.

An avid golfer, Patricia was a member of both the South Shore Country Club in Hingham and the Cohasset Golf Club. Patricia liked to travel making memorable trips that included an African safari, Alaska and golf in Ireland. She enjoyed being on the water, visiting Martha’s Vineyard, and going out on Paul’s boat. The most important part of Patricia’s life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an active grandmother and never missed her grandchildren’s extra curricular activities. Patricia’s life lessons and example are part of her legacy that continue through her family. She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

Patricia was the devoted mother of Lynn P. LaFond-Linehan and her husband Richard of Hingham, Paul R. LaFond and his wife Karen of Hanover, and Mark V. LaFond and his wife Stephanie Wood LaFond of Sudbury. She was the loving grandmother of Ryan and Catherine Linehan, Michelle, Jillian and Emily LaFond, and Michael and Daniel LaFond. She is also survived by many loving extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Thursday, November 4, 2021, 3-7 PM at Patricia’s residence: 23 Harvest Ln., Hingham.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Church of the Resurrection, Hingham on Friday, November 5, 2021, at 10:30 AM. Cremation will follow, and Patricia will be interred privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Patricia’s name to the charitable organization of one’s choice.
