Patricia A. Thorburn

Thorburn, Patricia Ann of Hull, died November 7, 2014.

Pat was born in Boston in 1942 and spent her formative years in East Weymouth with mother, father, and maternal grandparents John and Helena Stonely.  In 1954 Pat moved with her parents to Hull, she graduated Hull High School class of 1959 and lived in town until her passing in 2014.

Pat graduated from Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1962 having earned the prestigious Francis Slanger Award for Excellence in Surgical Nursing.  Pat began her nursing career at Boston City Hospital, moving on to become the industrial onsite nurse during the construction of Boston’s new Prudential Center, then transitioned her employment to the Quincy City Hospital department of OBGYN until her retirement.

An avid reader, Pat loved the arts, opera, and popular music.  She had a notable green thumb; her Nantasket Avenue hanging pots and flower boxes  were an anticipated sign of summer’s arrival each year.

Pat demonstrated a lifetime devotion to family; as a young woman she helped her mother care for six younger siblings; at the start of her nursing career she provided household support; in later life Pat remained a constant companion for her aging parents living next door.

Pat passed away peacefully at South Shore Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones.
