Patricia A. Gannon

Patricia A. Gannon (Iorio) Of Norton, passed away on Thursday, April 20, after a lengthy and courageous battle with Sporadic Inclusion Body Myositis. She was 82.

Patricia was the beloved wife of the late John L. Gannon. She was the loving mother of Matthew Gannon of Norton, and Melissa Gannon Chavarria and her husband, Salvador of Norwell and Norton. She also leaves her sister Frances (Iorio) Morgan of Norton; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cherished friends. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Frances (DeBenedictis) Iorio and Carmino Iorio; as well as her brothers, Arthur and David Iorio.

Patty grew up in Dedham and Scituate. Her family was in the restaurant business and was proprietor of various ones over the years, most notably Artie’s Fireside in Dedham and The Minot Light Inn in Scituate. A member of the first graduating class at Fontbonne Academy, 1958, Patty went on to attend The Katherine Gibbs School and Regis College. She was employed by The Coca-Cola Company, MIT, and RCA, where she met John in 1964. After marrying in 1968, they settled in Hingham to raise their family. She was very active in town and children’s activities, such as the Hingham Mother’s Club. Patricia liked to sing and dance and play her little instruments, such as the harmonica, ukulele, tambourine, or kazoo. She loved going for rides, getting ice cream cones on a summer day, and sitting on the beach enjoying the sunshine with a good book. A big talker, she never met anyone she couldn’t engage in conversation, and she loved to tell a good story. Generous and sociable, she cherished time spent with her extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Visiting Hours on Tuesday, April 25, from 3-7 pm in the Pyne-Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10 am on Wednesday, April 26, prior to the Funeral Mass in the Church of the Resurrection, Hingham at 11 am. Interment in St. Paul Cemetery, Hingham. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Patricia’s memory to The Muscular Dystrophy Association.
