MORGANELLI, Pasquale Antonio 90, a longtime resident of Quincy, died Sunday July 29, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton after a brief illness. Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Orazio A. and Susan M. (Morganelli) Morganelli.
Mr. Morganelli earned his BS in Teaching from Fitchburg State College, and went on to join the the United States Navy in 1945 as an apprentice seaman during WW II, and later as seaman first class until 1951. In 1954, he enlisted in the Army Reserve, with the rank of Sergeant, and was assigned to the 418th Engineer Aviation Brigade. During this assignment, he was promoted to master sergeant, and received a commission as a warrant officer while serving with the Army Corps of Engineers in 1958.
He completed courses at several Army schools, and held many assignments in the engineers, adjutant general corps and the criminal investigation division. Mr. Morganelli worked for many years with the Boston office of the Defense Logistics Agency of the Defense Contract Administration, first as a staff engineer, and later on as the program manager.
Pasquale was the beloved husband of 45 years of Gail N. (Lindsay) Morganelli. Devoted father of Kathleen Downey of San Francisco CA, Patrick Morganelli and his wife Kristen of Norfolk, Lee Morganelli of Quincy, and Lance Morganelli and his wife Alexis of Mansfield. Loving grandfather of Mia Rose and David Patrick Morganelli, and Colleen Morgan and Bethany Joy Downey. Brother of Rose Bingamon of East Braintree, and the late Orazio D. Morganelli, Lil Ogles, and Mary MacDonald. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his lifelong friends, Charlie Talocci and John Madek.
Pasquale was a meticulous gardener at his Quincy home, and was an excellent harmonica player. He was a Chinese Checkers champion, and enjoyed spending many hours playing the game with Gail.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Family and friends will gather in the funeral home beginning at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Pasquale may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
