Simms, Otis E. “Gene” of Quincy, formerly of Reading, January 10, 2006. Beloved husband of 63 years to the late Virginia “Ginny” (Churchill) Simms. Loving father of Ronald E. Simms of NV and Lynda D. Batson of Quincy & Ft. Lauderdale. Brother of the late Marie Freeman and the late Cecil M. Sims. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral service in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Saturday at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Gene was born January 3, 1913 in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was employed with Graham Radio in Reading, MA for 20 years, retiring as President in 1981. He was an amateur radio operator “Ham” since 1931 with call sign “W1DXD”. He served as National President of the Communication Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA). For over fifty years, he was a member of the Congregational Church in Reading, MA and served in various leadership roles with Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout troops in Reading. He was also a member of the United States Power Squadron.
