Norman Scott Young, Sr.

Young, Norman Scott, Sr. peacefully passed on September 5, 2010. He was 83 years of age. ‘Norm’ was born in Boston on April 3, 1927, the only child of Angus S. and Anna (Bird) Young. Beloved husband of twenty years to the late Mary (DeCourcey) O’Sullivan. Loving father of Norman S. Young, Sr. of Plymouth, Candace A. Joyce and her husband Michael J. of Middleborough, Elaine M. Johnson of Attleboro and Step-father of Kenneth O’Sullivan and his wife Maureen of Abington, Kevin O’Sullivan and his wife Jill of NH and Kurt O’Sullivan and his wife Sandra of Norton. Also lovingly survived and missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An avid sports fan, Norm resided in the Wollaston section of Quincy for many years and was a friend to many of the city’s lifelong residents. He enjoyed sharing stories of his athletic youth, from his basketball beginnings in the Methodist Church league through prep school and into college. He was proud to recount his youthful success in football, state championship tennis and many years of local league baseball with friends in Wollaston Park. He also enjoyed lifetime memories of summer days spent along the shores of Lake Winnipesauke with family and friends. Norman’s family extends sincere appreciation for the kindness of compassionate friends, neighbors and caregivers whose simple gestures of patience and assistance brightened many of Norm’s days. In celebration of Norman’s life, immediate family will gather for a private graveside service as he is laid to rest alongside his beloved wife Mary.
