Stonis, Norma Rose (Mazzucchelli) of Pocasset, formerly of Hingham, died at home on November 29 at the age of 81. She was the wife of the late John G. Stonis, and daughter of the late Rena and Pasquale Mazzucchelli. Mrs. Stonis raised two children while helping her husband run their family hardware store in Weymouth. She was employed for many years as a secretary at Northeastern University in Boston, retiring to the Cape in 1999. Mrs. Stonis thoroughly enjoyed watching wildlife in her yard and listening to the nearby waves. She could often be seen tapping her feet to the music of Tom Jones and was frequently engrossed in the mysteries of “Law and Order” and John Grisham’s novels. In spite of being in a wheelchair during her later years, Mrs. Stonis had a positive, cheerful attitude, and her wise, no-nonsense advice could always be counted on to help others. A devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with family, Mrs. Stonis leaves a son and a daughter, Jonathan and Cassandra, two grandchildren, Joscelyn and Bradford, as well as a daughter-in-law, Susan, and step-grandchildren Katherine, Alex, and Dana. She also leaves her wonderful caregivers, Megan, Alisa and Linda. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Saturday, December 4, from 3-6 PM, in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham. Prayers of remembrance will be held at 5:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St.,Boston, MA 02210.
