Noreen E. Cronin

Noreen Elizabeth (Jennings) Cronin of Hingham, passed away peacefully at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on June 4, 2017. Noreen was born on May 25, 1937 in Boston, and was raised in Watertown and Hull.  She was the daughter of the late Terrence and Grace Jennings.  Noreen married the love of her life, Arthur Cronin, Jr., in 1959 and settled in Hingham where they raised their two sons.

Noreen was a devoted and loving mother.  She was very proud of her family and was excited to become “Grammie” to her two grandchildren.  Noreen loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She enjoyed many summers on the South Shore with her family, from the Cape to Gunrock Beach.  Known for her kindness and warm smile, she always remembered the smallest of details of her friends’ and family’s lives.

Noreen was educated at Hingham High School and the Chandler School for Women in Boston. A dedicated and hard worker, Noreen was employed at Hitchcock Shoes in Hingham for over 20 years. It was at Chandler School and Hitchcock Shoes where she met many of her oldest and dearest friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Noreen was the beloved wife of the late Arthur A. Cronin, Jr., loving mother of Arthur Cronin, III and his wife Judith of Beverly, and Brian Cronin and his wife Susan of Scituate, cherished “Grammie” of Elizabeth Hannan and her husband Justin, and Michael Cronin, all of Beverly.  Noreen was also very special to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, 6/9 from 4-8PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), in Hingham.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9AM Saturday, 6/10 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10AM . Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
