Nils E. “Ned” Thureson

Nils E. “Ned” Thureson, Jr., of Braintree, died at South Shore Hospital on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was 87 years old and had died after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born in Boston, Ned grew up in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood. He was retired from the Boston Public Schools and had lived in Braintree for many years.

He was the beloved husband of Joan L. (Jurevitch) Thureson, the father of Richard J. Thureson and Nils E. Thureson and his wife Cheryl all of NH, Theresa Walters and her husband Robert of TX, David Thureson and his wife Diane of Hingham, Andrew Thureson of Chelsea, Karyn Viana and her husband Mario of Lynn and John E. Thureson of East Boston, the grandfather of 13, great-grandfather of 10 and the great-great-grandfather of 1. Ned was also the brother of Carol Stafford and her husband Jack of RI, Nancy Gluck of Boston, Malcolm Thureson and his wife Joan of NH, the late Isobel Armstrong and Lorraine Shoop.

Private ceremonies will be held at a later date.
