Neil I. Hawkins

Neil I. Hawkins, of Weymouth, a retired laborer died peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the Pat Roache Hospice House in Hingham. He was 80 and had suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Neil was born in Somerville to Karl Hawkins of New Brunswick, Canada and Helen Hawkins of Winchester, MA. He lived with his parents and seven siblings in Randolph for his early years. An avid skier, he met his wife, Lois (Bauer) through the Randolph Ski Club. They married and settled in Weymouth.

He worked as a laborer on many construction projects in the Boston area. He carried a card for LIUNA Local 223 in Dorchester for over 50 years.

In addition to being a beloved husband, Neil was the loved father to his son, Paul Hawkins and his wife, Kimberly of Oregon, the loving Grandpa to his granddaughter Hailey and the brother to Karlene Fitts of Rockland, Larry Hawkins of Pembroke, Roberta Pease of FL and the late Virginia Hawbolt, Jacqueline Horrigan, Audrey Manning and Beverly Gilbert. He was the “father” to his best friend forever, his faithful dog, Brady.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rt. 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Cremation will follow.
