Nancy E. (McCormack) Mahoney, age 88, a beautiful woman inside and out and matriarch of her loving family, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024, surrounded by her daughters at her home in Norwell, Massachusetts. She was born in Dorchester to the late Ellen T. (McDonald) and Mark E. McCormack.
Nancy’s formative years were spent in Dorchester, where she graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School. After completing her education and spending years raising her children in Weymouth, she went back to work and dedicated 25 years of service to the Weymouth and Norwell Star Markets, where her warm smile and kind words became a staple for both customers and colleagues alike. Nancy was an avid reader. She loved her books that she shared with her friends and neighbors. Her faith brought her through many difficult times. Her strength was immeasurable. For many years, Nancy enjoyed spending the winter months in Naples, Florida. Nancy was the cherished wife of the late Timothy F. Mahoney. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter.
She was a devoted mother to her children, Gail E. Bergquist and her husband Robert (Bob) of Pembroke, Claire M. Reilly and her husband Paul of Hanover, Ann M. Foster of Saratoga Springs, NY, Kerry F. Smith and her husband Gary of Duxbury, and the late Stephen M. Mahoney. Her role as a mother was one she treasured deeply. Nancy was the beloved sister to her late siblings Joseph (Bud) McCormack, Claire Donelan, Daniel McCormack, Mark McCormack, and Paul McCormack. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Nancy’s legacy continued to flourish. She was the adored grandmother of Courtney (David) Greene, Brittany Bergquist, Evan (Kristina) Reilly, Robbie Bergquist, Timothy (Julia) Reilly, Cameron (Hilda) Smith, Kathryn Foster, William Foster, Carolyn Smith, and Connor Smith. Her great-granddaughter Madison Reilly brought her immense joy. She was also survived by her cousins and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass at the Holy Family Church, Rockland, MA at 9 AM on Monday, June 24, 2024. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Nancy to NVNA Charitable Fund, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
