Nancy Lillian Hutchins (Hogan) of Norwell, formerly of Weymouth, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Nancy was one of a kind, who lived life fully and created happiness in the lives of everyone she met. She was the life in everyone’s party – a Tigger in a world of Eeyores. Nancy grew up the oldest of three siblings in Dorchester and she remained fiercely proud of her Dorchester roots throughout her life. She attended Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School where she served as class president and formed lifelong friendships. While working at Howard Johnson’s, she met the love of her life, Arthur J. Hutchins, to whom she was married for 54 years. Nancy and Arthur jointly owned and operated several restaurants over the years, most notably Justin’s Hearthside in Hanover. Justin’s was one of the South Shore’s most popular spots for dining and entertainment during its heyday and Nancy was its heart and soul. Nancy raised nine children of her own, but she was known universally as “Mommy”. Within minutes of meeting her, you’d be calling her Mommy and feeling like you’d known her your whole life. Nancy lived well, laughed often, loved much, and inspired others to do the same.
She was the oldest child of the late Richard and Lillian (Arno) Hogan; the sister of Richard Hogan and his wife Donna and the late Jack Hogan and his wife Peggy; and beloved wife of the late Arthur Hutchins. She will forever be remembered by her beloved children Linda Hutchins, Patricia Woodruff and her late husband Chuck, Christine Hirsch and her husband Steve, Maureen Keough and her husband Thomas, Geraldine Olson and her husband Ken, A. Justin Hutchins, III and his wife Tamara, Maria DaSilva and her husband Marcello, Paul Hutchins and his wife Susan, Nancy Toland and her husband Jay, her 23 treasured grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, along with countless other friends & family who were blessed to know her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Nancy may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
